How We Started

It’s amazing how you start out in life doing something you love and end up in different situations that are not as satisfying – just for the money. Then, years later you come back to what you love because you realize that is what life is all about. Doing something passionately not for the money but for the love of the job!

Years ago when my children were very young I wanted to be a stay-at-home mother. We lived on an acreage across the street from Al Oeming’s Game Farm just outside of Sherwood Park. I needed to figure out what I could do from home so that I would be there to greet my children when they came home from school. I decided to start a dog grooming business called GJ’s Dog Grooming. It was a great job and I loved all my clients and their dogs. Unfortunately, after a time we moved back into Edmonton and that is where I began my work in the corporate world. After being transferred to Calgary, I went back to school and became a Legal Assistant.

I have been working in the legal corporate securities field as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, and Executive Assistant for many years and have now decided that I am tired of the commute, the parking, and the bureaucracy. I’ve decided to stay home and do something I was so passionate about years ago and still am.

Starting up Posh Pups Dog Grooming has been so exciting and exhilarating. I am looking forward to meeting my new clientele and lovingly grooming their dogs.

Posh Pups is located on two acres in Artist View Pointe, west of Canada Olympic Park just off of Old Banff Coach Road. My home is located on a ridge with a 180 degree view of the Rocky Mountains. I am hoping that I can be of service to the many people in Springbank, Cochrane, Calgary, and vicinity, offering a different grooming experience for their dogs.

Giving Back

$1 from each pet groomed is donated to the Calgary Humane Society. The CHS is the only organization providing service under the Animal Protection Act in Calgary. They provide care for surrendered, neglected, abandoned, and abused animals.

No Cages or Playpens

All of my clientele’s dogs will be offered a different type of environment than is typical for the majority of dog grooming businesses, such as: playpens instead of cages; no more than two dogs per day; drop your dog off in the morning on the way to work and pick them up on the way home (additional $20 fee); 1200 square foot deck in which pets can run and play safely. Each dog will be pampered and loved by me – this is more than a hobby, it’s my passion.
